The majority of French customers using a contactless mobile payments system that was launched last year appear to be satisfied with it, it has been reported.
A group of French banks, telcos and technology vendors have found that customer satisfaction rates are above 90 per cent for the Payez Mobile scheme, according to finextra.com.
The scheme allows customers to make payments of up to 20 euros (£16) by tapping their mobile phones against a special terminal.
According to the consortium, the mobile payments system will contribute "to the definition of an international standard within the future single euro payments area (Sepa)".
The French banks involved in the pilot include BNP Paribas, Credit Agricole and Societe Generale, among others. Mobile phone manufactures LG, Motorola and Sagem were also involved, as were Mastercard and Visa.
In related news, Visa is upgrading its payWave contactless payments platform to a new global specification to allow people to use their contactless cards all over the world, finextra has reported.
