Barclays' web customers to get free security solution

Barclays has announced that its internet customers will be able to get free online security software, it has been reported.

The high street bank will offer its two million customers who use the web to do their banking Kaspersky security technology at no extra cost, according to finextra.com.

Sean Gilchrist, director of digital banking for Barclays, commented on the move: "As internet fraudsters become more sophisticated it is important that customers protect their computers from all threats and not just viruses."

Barclays customers will be able to download the software, which normally costs £51 for a one-year subscription, on up to three of their own computers, according to the news provider.

Customers will be able to benefit from anti-virus software, spyware, adware, firewalls, parental controls and spam filters which are included in the software.

Meanwhile, a study by Juniper Research has found that over the next five years, the total value of mobile payments is predicted to reach more than $300 billion (£150 billion) worldwide.
